The Louisville Regional Airport Authority has conducted its annual update on several projects and a look at plans for the new year.

The projects include relocating part of Crittenden Drive to make way for a wider taxiway on the west runway.

Executive Director Skip Miller says construction will begin soon on the first phase of the $28 million dollar project.

“Last year we were very fortunate to receive $3 million from the Kentucky state legislature in an effort to continue funding for that funding stream to move that project forward. We now have $11 million in the bank to move that project forward and we’ll be hopefully starting that construction work sometime in the month of April,” Miller said an the LRAA’s year-end briefing Wednesday.

Miller says construction is also underway on several new food and beverage venues within the airport.

In addition, there are a number of capital improvements scheduled for 2011 at Bowman Field, which LRAA also owns and operates.
