Appeals Court Sides With City In Take Home Car Dispute

The Kentucky Court of Appeals has sided with Louisville Metro Government in a dispute over employee take-home vehicles. The court reversed a circuit judge's ruling that granted an injunction prohibiting the city fromincreasing the fees it charges police and others for the use of the vehicles.Mayor Jerry Abramson ordered the increase last month to help close the city's budget deficit, but the Fraternal Order of Police sought the injunction, saying the take-home car program was part of its negotiated contract and couldn't be changed. The appeals court says Circuit Judge Mitch Perry erred when he granted the injunction based on a likelihood of immediate and irreparable injury.
