Arena Authority Beginning Traffic Study

The Louisville Arena Authority is organizing a group to look at how the new arena will affect traffic in downtown Louisville. On Thursday the authority will host an organizational meeting and begin working on a traffic study.Kentucky State Fair Board President Harold Workman says there's ample time to devise traffic plans for the new arena."This is the beginning of the process, because as you know, the arena doesn't open until November of 2010, so we're about a year and a half—maybe a little less—a year and a half away and we hope to have the study done by the end of the year," he says.Workman acknowledges that thousands of cars will flood downtown for arena events, but he doesn't think the study will reveal any additional need for parking spaces or road work. The arena complex will include a 760 space underground garage.
