Bayh Could Be Considered For Obama's Running Mate

Indiana Senator Evan Bayh is reportedly on the short list to be Barack Obama’s running mate. The presumptive Democratic nominee has been narrowing down the list of possible vice presidential candidates in preparation for his party’s convention next month.Indiana University Southeast political science professor Joseph Wert says putting Bayh on the ticket could help Obama win Indiana, but it would hurt the party’s strength in Congress.“You’ll have two sitting Democratic senators which could possibly be taken out of the Senate if Barack Obama wins which may end up decreasing the Democratic majority they have there," he says.Wert says he thinks Obama will choose Virginia Governor Tim Kaine as his running mate.John McCain is reportedly considering former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and former Ohio Congressman Rob Portman for the number two post.
