Beshear Discusses Casino Plan With House Members

Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear is moving forward with plans to introduce casino gambling legislation this week.In a speech to the Kentucky Association of Manufacturers Monday, Governor Beshear said the state desperately needs new revenue and casino gambling can provide it.Shortly thereafter, he met privately with the House panel that spent the first few weeks of the 2008 session studying all aspects of casino gaming. He says he shared with them some of the details of his casino gaming package."Obviously, it’s still a little bit of a moving target until we get their full input, which we were doing today. And we can now finalize some of those specifics so we’ll be ready to go later this week," Beshear said. The governor says he intends to unveil the gaming package no later than Thursday.
