Governor Steve Beshear has returned from a business trip to India. Beshear hopes the trip will spur Indian business leaders to open operations in Kentucky. The Governor met with business leaders in New Delhi and Mumbai. There are currently six Indian-owned businesses in Kentucky, and Beshear says there's ample opportunity for more manufacturing plants, offices or other operations. If an Indian company decides to operate in Kentucky, Beshear says they would likely be offered tax breaks and other incentives."Certainly we will work with them just as we work with any business, whether they are already here in Kentucky or looking to come to Kentucky to see how we might assist them in making a decision to come and employ Kentuckians," he says.Beshear's visit marks the first time a sitting Kentucky governor has visited India. Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels will visit China and Japan for similar business next week.
