Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear has launched the state’s first certification program for minority and women owned businesses.

The goal of the Minority and Women Business Enterprise Certification Program is to encourage growth among Kentucky businesses owned by women and minorities and to assist those companies in finding further business opportunities.

Governor’s Spokesperson Kerri Richardson says the program will help the business owners bid on jobs in other states, which typically require certification.

The application to apply for the program is available online.
