The University of Louisville men’s basketball team is in New York City for the Big East Tournament,  which is underway at Madison Square Garden.

The Cards drew a first-round bye and will take on Pittsburgh Thursday night.

Coach Rick Pitino says the tournament atmosphere can be a distraction for some players.

“Everything’s so exposed, and the players get in front of the media,” Pitino said.   “And it’s now hundreds of media people sitting out there and they’re getting questions and they know it’s different, and then March Madness is all over television, everybody’s talking about it.”

Tipoff for Thursday’s game is 7:00pm.

Kentucky and Indiana begin play in their conference tournaments Friday.
