Award-winning biographer and historian T.J. Stiles spoke before a packed auditorium at the Louisville Free Public Library on May 12, 2010, about his latest book, The First Tycoon: The Epic Life of Cornelius Vanderbilt.  The book was recently named the T.J. Stiles at Library (photo: B.Masuhr)winner of the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Biography, and also received the prestigious National Book Award in 2009.  A gripping, groundbreaking biography, The First Tycoon explores the combative man whose acumen and force of will helped create modern capitalism.

WFPL is pleased to be able to offer the full audio of his presentation at the library. Special thanks to Kay Lowe-Masuhr, Craig Buthod, and Gene Wickliffe.
