Broadway in Louisville Will Hold Lottery for Cheap 'The Book of Mormon' Tickets

The wildly-popular Broadway musical "The Book of Mormon," which won nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, is coming to Louisville next week for a two-week engagement. Broadway in Louisville just announced that they'll hold a pre-show lottery for $25 tickets before each performance of the hit musical, which runs in the Kentucky Center's Whitney Hall May 27-June 8. Two-and-a-half hours before each performance, the lottery will accept entries outside of the Kentucky Center box office. You print your name and the number of tickets (one or two) you wish to purchase on a card (one entry per day per person), and wait. Two hours before curtain time, the winning cards are drawn at random from the entries. If you win (winners must be present at the drawing), you get to buy one or two tickets for $25. Regular-priced tickets for "The Book of Mormon" start at $43. The company is holding pre-show ticket lotteries in every city on the current national tour. “The Book of Mormon” is an irreverent comedy about two missionaries who attempt to reconcile their faith and evangelism with the realities of the Ugandan village where they are assigned. The religious satire is the brainchild of “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Robert Lopez, c0-creator of the acclaimed puppet spoof “Avenue Q.” It's the final show of the 2013-14 Broadway in Louisville series. The 2014-15 season opens in October with "I Love Lucy Live On Stage," a live re-enactment of two iconic episodes of the groundbreaking 1950s sitcom.
