University of Kentucky men's basketball coach John Calipari will be compensated far better than the two coaches who were in Monday night's NCAA championship game.According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, Calipari, who was hired in 2009, will receive $325,000 in bonuses for taking the Wildcats to the Final Four. The newspaper reports that UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart will also receive a hefty bonus of $50,000 for the team's post-season performance.Those bonuses are generated by athletics revenues, but under the NCAA system it is against the rules to financially compensate the athletes because they are considered amateurs. Compensation for players remains a polarizing topic, which was shown recently on HBO's "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel". The show committed an entire program this past weekend on the rules and alleged corruption in college sports. The main point that Gumbel's panel debated is one that is raised fairly often.
