Cards And Cats To Renew Rivalry In Lexington

The annual battle for the Governor’s Cup is tomorrow  night in Lexington as U of L and UK square off for football bragging rights.Second year coach Charlie Strong’s Cardinals are coming off a home loss to Florida International, a defeat he calls frustrating and disappointing."When you talk about rebuilding a football program, you don’t ever need to talk about confidence, you don’t need to talk about playing hard, you don’t need to talk about finishing, because it’s instilled within the program.   That’s what we have to get to in order to get this program turned around,' he said this week.U of L is 1-1 on the season, with its victory coming in the opener against Murray State.   Kentucky is 2-0, with wins over Western Kentucky and Central Michigan.UK has a four-game winning streak in its series with Louisville.Kickoff is 7pm.Indiana returns to action tomorrow against South Carolina State.

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
