Cards Resume NCAA Tournament Play Thursday

The Louisville Cards return to the court tomorrow in the Sweet Sixteen round of the men’s NCAA Division One basketball tournament. Coach Rick Pitino’s fourth-seeded team faces number one seed Michigan State in a West Region semifinal in Phoenix. Both teams like to play a fast-paced game. "We’ve been having an awesome time, just a lot of fun, and that’s what really college basketball is all about this time year is making sure your have a lot of fun for your guys so they have a lifetime experience. So we’re going to run with them," Pitino said today. Tipoff is 7:47pm tomorrow. Marquette and Florida face off in the other West Region game.The top-seeded Kentucky Wildcats return to action Friday in the South Region in Atlanta. UK takes on Indiana at 9:45pm.

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
