Chandler Slams Barr for Supporting Ryan Plan

In a statement released on his campaign website, U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler, D-Ky., accuses Republican Andy Barr of supporting a "radical agenda to end Medicare" as a way to balance the federal budget.Barr announced his candidacy earlier today, setting up a potential rematch between the 37-year-old Lexington attorney and three-term incumbent. In 2010, Barr came within 648 votes of unseating Chandler in a political nail biter. In aninterview with Politico, Barr said he would have voted for Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan’s budget plan, which would turn Medicare into a privatized voucher program. From the Chandler campaign:"Next year voters will have a very simple choice to make: whether to protect and save Social Security and Medicare, or to end them. Even though so many hardworking Kentuckians depend on Medicare and Medicaid, Andy Barr admitted this week that he supports ending them. Our 2010 campaign focused on protecting these programs, and I am prepared to continue that fight. Andy Barr is back with the same radical agenda, and I will do everything I can to stop it."
