In 2010, Chely Wright became the first country music star to come out as gay. Wright’s three-year journey to her coming out day is the subject of a new documentary by filmmakers Bobbie Berleffi and Beverly Kopf.“ChelyWright: Wish Me Away” plays Saturday in the Louisville LGBT Film Festival at the University of Louisville. The film includes interviews with her family and Nashville music industry colleagues, as well as intimate video diaries Wright kept during that time. It deals candidly with Wright’s Christian faith and her concerns about working as an out lesbian in the conservative country music industry.Wright will be in Louisville this weekend for several events at the festival. She will sign copies of her memoir, "Like Me" Saturday evening at a VIP meet and greet  and answer questions after the screening of “Wish Me Away” Sunday afternoon.WFPL’s Erin Keane spoke with Wright about the documentary, about coming out in country music and equality issues in the media.
