Churches To Remember Victims Of Violence

Louisville's Highland Baptist Church and Ridgewood Baptist Church will be the site of an annual ceremony this Sunday remembering people in the community who lost their lives to violence in 2009.Highland Baptist Pastor Joe Phelps says crosses representing some 65 victims will be placed on the churches lawns following Sunday worship services."Our intent here is to raise awareness about the sad number of people who enter these holiday seasons with a deep amount of grief, but also to bear witness to the hope that this isn't the way the world needs to be, this isn't what our Maker intended for us," Phelps said. This is the 13th year for the cross placement at Highland Baptist. The cross placements will be held following the 11:00am service at Highland and the 1:00pm service at Ridgewood, which is in southwest Louisville.
