By Rick HowlettChurchill Downs has announced plans for a food and wine festival later this year at the home of the Kentucky Derby. The company's Steve Sexton says the September 12 event, called Fork, Cork and Style will feature food from some of the country's best-known eateries, a tasting of fine wines from around the world, and demonstrations by celebrity chefs, including Emeril Lagasse (pictured in video message) and Brian Malarkey from Bravo's "Top Chef" series (conducting a demonstration at Churchill Downs Tuesday morning). "That, combined with music, we hope, will create a fun, entertaining, high-energy atmosphere that is a food and wine concept, but fun and inexpensive to attend," Sexton said at a Tuesday morning press conference. The festival is being staged by the recently formed Churchill Downs Entertainment Group, which is also planning the HullabaLOU music festival next month.
