Churchill Downs Won't Change Derby Ticket Prices

Prices for most tickets to the 2009 Kentucky Derby and Oaks will be unchanged from this year.Churchill Downs President Bob Evans says the economy is too rough to consider raising prices for the track’s signature races next year.“I obviously haven’t seen any fourth quarter numbers yet, but second quarter was lower than first, third quarter was lower than second," he says. "I don’t know if fourth quarter will be lower than third, but it may be headed in that path.”Evans says he hopes the frozen prices will attract more horsemen and out-of-town racing fans to the track. Not all ticket prices have been frozen. Tickets for certain luxury seats and seats that have been leased for a number of years will become more expensive.
