Churchill Launches Online Poll on Night Racing

Churchill Downs is turning to racing fans for their input on whether the track should install permanent lights so night racing can be offered on a more frequent basis. The last night racing event for the trial run this spring was Thursday night. It drew more than 33,000 people.Spokesperson Darren Rogers says they’ll soon start taking stock of the night racing experiment's success.“Once the season ends on Sunday, executives at Churchill Downs will assess the information, look at all the data, both on-track and off-track, and make a decision," says Rogers. "It’s a tough decision, because it’s a significant investment to install permanent lights at Churchill Downs.”Churchill Downs has posted an online poll on its website, asking fans for their input.Rogers says he expects a decision will be made this summer.
