collaborACT! Brings 5 Louisville Theatre Companies Together

Five Louisville theatre groups are collaborating to raise funds for pediatric cancer.

Local non-profit Acting Against Cancer is heading up collaborACT!, a musical revue with performances from shows including “Spring Awakening,” “Rent,” “The Addams Family,” and “The Who’s Tommy.”  Performers from Theatre 502, Pandora Productions, Centerstage, and Stage One Family Theatre will also be onstage.

Acting Against Cancer artistic director Remy Sisk said Louisville’s close-knit theatre community makes this kind of event possible.

“We’ve been talking to several arts leaders in the community and they all say: collaborate," Sisk said.

"Collaboration is really a buzzword, it’s something you should really be thinking about doing more of, so we thought, why not center the whole evening on collaboration?”

All proceeds will benefit the art therapy program for pediatric cancer patients at Kosair Children’s Hospital. Sisk said the event will be fun, with a purpose.

“We want to entertain audiences, but beyond that we want to raise awareness of art therapy, raise money for art therapy, and encourage people to value that as a way of treating pediatric cancer.”

collaborACT! will take place on Friday night at the Kentucky Center’s Bomhard Theatre. You can get more information here.
