The University of Louisville football team will be on the road for the next three games, starting next Saturday night at Florida International. U of L is 3-0 for the first time since 2006, but nearly blew a 29 point halftime lead last Saturday against North Carolina. The Cards held on for a 39-34 victory.
Coach Charlie Strong says his team hasn’t yet learned how to play a complete game.
“When you’re placed in that position and we’ve never been placed in that position before, then you go back out the second half and make sure as a coaching staff…we’ve got to make sure they don’t lose their focus,” Strong said today.
The University of Kentucky will try to get back on track following its upset loss to Western Kentucky last weekend.
The 1-2 Wildcats will have their work cut out for them, as they travel to Gainesville Saturday to face number 14 Florida, a team they haven’t beaten since 1986.
Coach Joker Phillips says he’s too busy preparing for that game to hear any fan grumbling about his team’s start and speculation about his future.
“I don’t have time,” Phillips said today. “I told our staff yesterday that the players will hear it. We won’t hear it, we’ll be buried in the office. We sense it, but we don’t get a chance to hear it because we’re buried in there trying to prepare for the next opponent.”
Indiana is off next week and will resume play the following Saturday at Northwestern. The Hoosiers are 1-2 on the season.
