Comair to Cut Jobs

After the summer, regional airline Comair plans to cut 520 jobs, or about 8 percent of its total workforce. The cuts are part of the airline’s plan to ground 14 of its 128 50-seat jets.Three hundred pilots and 220 flight attendants will be laid off.A Comair spokesperson says the airline has also been slowly eliminating non-crew staff since January, and the additional cuts go along with the grounding of the planes. The Erlanger, Kentucky based airline is the latest of several carriers to announce cuts in the wake of higher fuel prices. United Airlines recently announced it would eliminate 150 jobs and AirTran said Monday it would eliminate 480 positions.
