ConnectKentucky Could Get $2 Million

After emerging from an all-night session, the legislature passed a budget that would give $2 million in grants to ConnectKentucky. When I was doing a feature on ConnectKentucky, I learned they had relaxed their lobbying efforts given the state’s budget shortfall and they weren’t asking for big state funds.I was also told that while the local ISP community doubts ConnectKentucky’s progress and effectiveness, the group has a strong lobbying and PR arm that has already generated millions of dollars in state revenue.Governor Beshear has said he will use his line item veto power to cut some of the proposed budget, but so far, I haven’t heard any comment on ConnectKentucky getting the axe.
