Conway Urges Passage Of Cybersafety Bill

Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway says he's optimistic the General Assembly will approve a bill aimed at better protecting children from online sexual predators. The cybersafety measure co-authored by Conway has cleared the Kentucky House and is pending before the Senate Judiciary Committee.Speaking Thursday on WFPL's "State of Affairs" program, Conway said the legislation would bring Kentucky law up to date with the technology used by predators to stalk young people."It's a good piece of legislation and it's something I think the people of Kentucky want to see move forward. they want to know that law enforcement has the tools to tackle this type of crime," Conway said.Among other things, the bill would make it a crime for registered sex offenders to visit social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook that are popular with young people.
