Crews Prepare For Power Outages

The freezing rain that’s been making its way across Kentucky is keeping utility crews busy.As of Tuesday afternoon, the ice storm had brought down hundreds of power lines in Western Kentucky and E-On US spokesperson Chip Keeling says crews were braced for more outages elsewhere in the state.“We saw something like this back in 2003 that started off similar like this in Lexington, but it was the largest outages in Lexington that they’ve ever had," he says. "So we’re going to watch this one, we’ve got crews prepared, we’ve got crews that have been held over”Keeling says a buildup of ice can bring down tree limbs and power lines, causing widespread loss of service.
