Crews Preparing Convention Center For Inauguration

Two halls in the Kentucky International Convention Center are being readied for inauguration events. The day will begin with a breakfast at 7:30 in exhibit hall 2-C. The hall will be decorated with set-pieces that look like various Louisville landmarks. On Thursday morning, Rebecca Baldwin watched crews assemble a replica of Metro Hall that she painted."…and these guys have the hardest part of the job…putting it all together. I don't know how they do what they do," she says. The event is free, but tickets must be ordered from Mayor-elect Greg Fischer's transition staff. Katy Schneider is the chair of the breakfast. She says many tickets have already been claimed."We're hoping two thousand," she says. "It's very much a grassroots effort, pulling it together. It's a totally a volunteer effort. We're going to have a real festival atmosphere. We'll have a lot of performers."About two thousand people are expected to attend the breakfast. It will be followed by a prayer service, the inauguration itself, then a gala in the evening. All of the events are being paid for with private donations.
