Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic Fibrosis. We might hear of a friend's baby receiving a CF diagnosis, or maybe a co-worker has a brother with CF, or it could be a news story that we hear on the periphery. But it seems if you don't know someone close to you with CF, well then you simply don't know much about it. Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited disease that affects mainly the lungs and digestion; producing thick mucus that makes it difficult to breath and digest food. Until the 1980's, most deaths from CF occurred in teens and young adults, but advances have increased the life spans of patients. It is a difficult disease to live with both as a sufferer and as a family member. Join us on Tuesday with your questions and personal stories about Cystic Fibrosis.
