The Greater Clark County School Board has hired Stephen Daeschner as the district's new superintendent.Daeschner is the former superintendent of Jefferson County Public Schools. Greater Clark Board President Bob McEwen says Daeschner was asked to apply for the southern Indiana job."From time to time people would say, 'Hey, it'd be nice for you to be here,'" he says. "We were definitely hoping and we had board members that thought he'd be good from the get go."McEwen says the board was generally in favor of hiring Daeschner, though fundraising may be needed to pay his salary."There are people who made reference that community leaders were interested," he says. "I guess my stand is that I believe he is worth the money that we're going to pay him and agree to pay him and I feel the school corporation will do a good job."McEwen says the new superintendent's salary will be around 225 thousand dollars. The previous administrator was making 130 thousand dollars when he left in 2007.
