Daniels To Visit Japan

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels will visit Japan and China on state economic business in just over a month.Since first taking office in 2005, Daniels has led three trips to Asia and one to Europe. The goal of the visits is to convince business leaders to establish operations in the Hoosier State. And spokesperson Brad Rateike says past trips have been successful."There have been pretty substantial economic gains that have been directly associated with these trips," he says. "One of the obvious ones is the new Honda plant in Greensburg, which was announced shortly after his second trip in 2006."The administration attributes 42 thousand jobs to Japanese companies operating in Indiana.Daniels will depart for Japan and China in early September. The trip is being funded by donations to the Indiana Economic Development Foundation.
