Deadline For Flood Relief Loans Looms, SBA Offices Closing

The deadline to apply for a loan from the Small Business Administration to cover damages from the August 4th flood is Tuesday.About 1,400 of the nearly 7 thousand applications issued have been turned in. Of those, 262 applicants were approved for loans.A rejected loan request could make the applicant eligible for a FEMA grant. And while loan applications must be turned in by Tuesday, SBA spokesperson Micahel Peacock says further paperwork can be handled after the deadline."Let's say they submitted the application by the 13th. Now let's say they get a denial from us on the 15th, they can still be referred over to FEMA, because they completed the registration process by the deadline."The two Louisville SBA offices will close on Thursday. After that, applicants can reach the SBA and FEMA online or by phone. The SBA offices are closed Monday)for Columbus Day, but will re-open Tuesday.
