Deadlines Approaching For Mailing Holiday Packages To Military

From WFPL's Haley HartThe US Postal Service says deadlines are approaching to ensure that holiday letters and packages reach oversees military personnel on time. All Christmas-related mail going to the Middle East, including Iraq and Afghanistan, must be postmarked by December 4th, using First Class or Priority Mail. Mail going to any other military address must be sent by December 11th.USPS Spokesperson David Walton says there are extra precautions that family and friends can take to make sure holiday packages reach their loved ones.“When you do address a package, you know, you’ve got the to and from on the outside; but its not a bad idea to include the same information on the inside of the package in case that outside label would come off during, you know, transport, then that way they would be able to, you know, locate the sender or the receiver,”   Walton said.More information on Military Mailing Services and deadlines for other December religious and cultural holidays can be found here.
