Department Of Public Health To Give Free Flu Sprays

Free flu mist vaccinations will be available next week as part of a Louisville Department of Health and Wellness emergency preparation drill. The department has 850 doses of nasal spray vaccine. Officials will distribute them to the public next Tuesday afternoon at the Walnut Street Baptist Church.Spokesperson Dave Langdon says the department is offering the vaccine because it needs to test its ability to respond to a pandemic or other emergency.“It’s giving out the spray and teaching people how to use it," says Langdon. "It’s also testing the protocols that we have in place for ourselves. Really testing our ability to see how quickly it would take us to do it.”Langdon says other vaccines can be administered in spray form, but only the flu vaccine will be offered next week. Healthy adults between 18 and 49 years of age are eligible for the free nasal spray.
