Derby Museum Repairs Continue

Officials at the Kentucky Derby Museum say they still don't know when the flood-damaged facility will re-open.The museum staff was able to rescue nearly all of its artifacts from the August 4 flood, but there is extensive structural damage.Executive Director Lynn Ashton says workers are still uncovering damage in parts of the building, including one that houses an exhibit called "The Jockey Promenade.""The exhibit is starting to come apart at the seams, and they're having a lot of trouble drying it out. So they were in the process of getting in touch with the insurance company," Ashton said.Ashton says the damage estimate at the museum stands at about $4 million.

Wednesday morning, museum staff moved 85 trophies into a Churchill Downs vault in order to make way for repair work.
