Donnelly Has Lackluster Fundraising Numbers

In the Indiana Senate race, Democratic candidate Joe Donnelly is reporting unimpressive fundraising numbers despite a hotly contested Republican primary race. The GOP contest between State Treasurer Richard Mourdock and Sen. Richard Lugar has caught national attention for the potential to unseat the six-term incumbent. Observers predict that Mourdock upsets Lugar it could put Indiana in play for the Democrats, but Congressman Donnelly has raised only $312,000 during the first quarter. From The Washington Post: The congressman is still raising money like a congressman and not a Senate candidate, having failed to clear even $360,000 raised in each of the last three quarters. It’s looking more and more like Democrats could get the Republican matchup they want with Richard Mourdock rather than incumbent Richard Lugar, but Donnelly isn’t showing himself to be anything close to a top-flight candidate yet. And it’s getting late. Both Mourdock and Lugar have raised more than double that amount in the same period.
