E-On VP Compares Ice Storm To Ike In Louisville

Last night’s ice storms have brought the second widespread power outage to Louisville in six months.E-On US Vice President of Energy Delivery Chris Hermann says the ice storm and aftermath of  Hurricane Ike in September are starkly different.“Think about the windstorm," he says. "It came in on a Sunday afternoon, by Sunday night the storm was over, clouds cleared, it was beautiful weather, we could move easily. It was confined damage in certain areas and it gave us an area of concentration. This is more widespread. It’s not clearing, it’s going on for a couple of days and it’s not going to be easy.”Hermann says as ice continues to form on tree limbs, the potential for downed power lines increases. As of this morning roughly 25 hundred lines were down, leaving more than 75 thousand LG and E households in the Louisville area without power.
