Economic Development Secretary Resigns

Kentucky Economic Development Secretary John Hindman has resigned to return to the private sector.Cabinet Secretary Larry Hayes will assume the role on in interim basis, but Hindman says his work for the state isn’t quite done yet.“The governor, in fact, has asked me to stay on in a consulting basis to continue work on some of the big projects," says Hindman.Hindman says he will take a consulting role for the next year to guide the expansion of Ford and to help the state secure the new General Electric spinoff company. After that, he says he will likely find a job in the education field.“I have no particular company contract, or anything I’m planning on doing on the private side. But I’m sure it will fall somewhere in that area," he says. "When someone sees the value I can bring to their organization I’ll be more than willing to talk to them about it."Hindman has held the cabinet job since June 2007.
