Edelen Enters State Auditor's Race

A former top aide to Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear has filed to run for State Auditor. Adam Edelen says he intends to raise $1 million in his campaign. The Lexington Democrat, a former chief of staff to Gov. Beshear, has already raised more than $300,000. “We intend to run the most vigorous down-ballot race in the history of Kentucky. We’re going to run in all 120 counties. And we’re going to be very well financed. And as you see in our last report, we’re well on our way to being able to raise $1 million for this race,” he said. Edelen is the second person to qualify for the campaign. Also in the race is Republican John Kemper of Lexington. The office currently is held by Democrat Crit Luallen, who’s in her second and final term.
