Education Leaders Meet to Discuss Preschool Initiatives

Some education and business leaders gathered today in Louisville to discuss ways to improve early childhood education in Kentucky.Robert Sexton is the Executive Director of the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence. He says even in tight budgetary times, the General Assembly would be well-advised to increase spending on preschool programs throughout the state."Preschool experience and other experiences early in life make a huge difference, the biggest difference you can imagine, in helping kids who start out with some disadvantages be ready to go to school by the time they get to kindergarten," says Sexton.Sexton says they’d also like to increase the level of training for those who work in preschools. He says they’re mostly focused on lobbying during the 2010 General Assembly.
