Education Task Force Recommendations Include Higher Dropout Age

A task force established by Governor Steve Beshear has recommended the state raise the high school dropout age to 18 and expand programs to recruit better teachers. The recommendations are among 35 in the final report issued Monday by the Governor's Task Force on Transforming Education in Kentucky. The panel also recommended the state develop a new model of secondary and technical education that focuses on career technology.A bill raising the dropout age has cleared the state House, but faces an uncertain future in the Senate.
