Election Fraud Hotline Received 116 Calls On Tuesday

by Tony McVeigh, Kentucky Public RadioThe Attorney General’s election fraud hotline stayed busy on Tuesday, primary Election Day in Kentucky.The election fraud hotline received 116 calls from 43 counties, with vote buying and selling leading the list of complaints. Other callers had concerns about election officials, electioneering within 300 feet of the polls, voting machines and exit polling. All of the complaints will be thoroughly reviewed. The Secretary of State’s office is also assessing the election, and spokesman Les Fugate says administratively, it went pretty smoothly.“We had two counties that ran out of Republican ballots on Election Day," he says. "They had electronic voting machines so that the voting could continue. In one of the counties, they go extra ballots to the county and the other county, they just allowed everyone to vote on the electronic voting machine.”The two counties were Boone and Jefferson. Fugate says there was at least one vote buying arrest on Election Day, in Perry County.
