Employers Still Recruiting at U of L, Despite Downturn

College students who are about to graduate may be concerned about finding a job in this economic recession. But University of Louisville career services director Leslye Erickson says the downturn does not seem to have hit campus recruiting—yet. She says requests from employers and job postings are still strong, but that could change in the next few months. Erickson says some students who are anxious about the job market may decide to stay in school.“Having done this for a number of years, I’ve been through a couple of downturns in the market, and for a student who decides they are going to prolong their education, maybe go back for that Masters or Ph.D, where they might have thought they’d go out into the workplace, that is a common, common decision," says Erickson. But that could present some challenges for students. Kentucky recently ranked near the bottom of states in terms of college affordability.
