FBI Dedicates New Louisville Headquarters

The new Louisville headquarters for the FBI was dedicated this morning.

The $40-million facility is located just off Bluegrass Parkway, and brings together all the FBI’s operations in Louisville. Special Agent in Charge Timothy Cox says the old headquarters in downtown Louisville was too spread out and unsafe.“I can’t tell you how many people we’ve had walk up on our building down there, I’ve had employees hassled and harassed outside of our building as they were going to the parking lot, there were actually a couple of assaults in the parking lot," says Cox.FBI Director Robert Mueller was in Louisville for the dedication.  He says the new facility was designed to accommodate the necessary technology and security measures needed in today’s FBI.

“We have to put in highly secure areas to handle top secret and plus materials," saus Mueller. "Offices like this already have that space built out. The Hoover building and other buildings around the country, we have to build it out from inside, which means it can be done, but it is very expensive.”The Louisville office is the central command of all FBI operations in Kentucky.
