First Phase Of New Riverview Park Unveiled

By Sheila AshLouisville Mayor Jerry Abramson and other local officials Tuesday unveiled the first phase of a major transformation of Riverview Park in southwest Jefferson County.Abramson said the park will be part of the Louisville Loop system, which will include a paved trail around the community."Part of what will be the 100 miles and already today is the 27 miles starting from downtown at the Waterfront and going all the way to the Farnsley Moreman (landing) so you can now ride your bike from downtown out to this beautiful park enjoy the experience and the go on to Farnsley Moreman," he said. Improvements to the park include a new boat ramp, handicapped accessible playground and spray area and new restrooms.The 87 acre park will be completed in phases. The total cost is expected to be $30 million to $40 million.
