Fischer Releases Energy And Environmental Plan

by Gabe BullardTo mark Earth Day Thursday, Democratic mayoral candidate Greg Fischer unveiled his energy and environmental services plan for Louisville if elected.Fischer's eleven-point plan touches on topics such as greenhouse emissions, ecological development and local food. One of the centerpieces is the Metro Government Office of Sustainability, which Fischer says he would create to oversee various environmental initiatives."The city's got a Go Green Louisville, Kilowatt Crackdown, Partnership for a Green City, Air Pollution Control District," he says. "So how do you pull all those together, maybe get more done with the same amount of money, how do we bring in the private sector?"Fischer faces seven other Democrats in his party's primary. Three Republicans and at least three independent candidates are also running. Also today, Democratic candidate Shannon White released her education plan.
