Flag Display Honors Vets on Memorial Day

Numerous events throughout the region are planned in honor of veterans on this Memorial Day.A Louisville-based organization called Flags4Vets has organized a display of 25,000 flags at Waterfront Park. The flags will depict 150-foot by 450-foot letters spelling U-S-A.Director Fred Moore says it’s a dramatic way to honor military, police and firefighter vets.“Almost everyone knows someone who’s in the military, or police department, or corrections or firefighters," says Moore, "so it’s important for people to come in and pay honor to their fallen heroes.”Moore says it took volunteers about 24 hours to place all the flags. This is the first year for the display at Waterfront Park. In the past, the flags were placed in Jefferson Square.
