Flood Aid Application Deadline Approaching

Louisville residents who had property damaged in the August 4th flood have just over a week to apply for federal aid.The deadline for applications to FEMA and the Small Business Association is Tuesday, October 13th. More than 55 hundred of the nearly 7,000 SBA packets distributed have not yet been returned. Many residents may not return the packets because they don't want loans, but FEMA spokesperson Ted Stuckey says they should still go through the process."I want to be clear that you're not obligated to take the loan if you are qualified for it," he says. "However, if you are declined it could open up other avenues of assistance to you."Stuckey says applying for a loan is the first step toward getting a FEMA grant. Two-hundred fifty-three loan applications have been approved. The rest have been denied or sent to FEMA.
