The Emergency Operations Center remains open in Frankfort, as state officials continue to gather storm damage assessments from around the Commonwealth. Emergency Management spokesman Buddy Rogers says that information is being passed along to representatives at the federal level.

“The number of counties that have declared states of emergency is at 70 and our cities are at 24. The Governor declared a state of emergency for the commonwealth and he has asked President Obama for a federal declaration. That’s being processed in Washington D.C.”

Rogers says officials have had to wait for floodwaters to recede to access certain areas. Damage to roadways is expected to cost millions of dollars to repair.
