Food Summit To Be Held Saturday

by Gabe BullardThe Louisville Metro Department of Health and Wellness will hold its second-annual food summit Saturday. The summit will feature a tour of Louisville, a screening of the documentary Food Inc. and workshops on food issues and problems in Louisville.Stevon Edwards with the health department helped plan the event. She says one of the biggest issues with food in Louisville is access."There are areas of the county where farm-fresh food is more available to some than to others," she says. "And the action steps that we are providing is to get involved in starting a community garden in your area, start a garden in your backyard."The summit is being held in conjunction with the Healthy Hometown Movement and the Community Farm Alliance. It begins at 9 AM at Meyzeek Middle School.
