Former Colombian Hostage, Ingrid Betancourt: Here and Now

Ingrid Betancourt was a Colombian politician and presidential candidate celebrated for her determination to combat widespread corruption. In 2002 she was kidnapped by FARC - a terrorist guerrilla organization - and held hostage in the Colombian jungle for more than six years. She was finally rescued on July 2, 2008. She tells her story in her own words in the memoir, Even Silence Has an End.  Betancourt will be speaking tonight at the Louisville Free Public Library.  Her appearance is sold out, but standby seats may be available just prior to the 7pm start time. She paid a visit to the WFPL studios earlier today to speak with Todd Mundt on Here and Now.
