Former Louisville TV Anchor Dale Greer Dies At 70

Morehead State University’s Dale Greer, assistant professor of radio-television, age 70, passed away Monday.A two-time graduate of MSU, Greer had been on the faculty since 1982. Prior to that, he had worked for several media organizations including WAVE-TV in Louisville, where he served as a reporter and news anchor for 13 years.In 1976, Greer, a past president of the Louisville chapter of the MSU Alumni Association, was inducted into MSU’s Alumni Hall of Fame.     In November 2006, Greer was the recipient of the Student Government Association’s “Flying High Award,” which recognizes faculty and staff members that have gone above and beyond the call in their profession.According to the award, “Greer serves not only in the role of teacher, but works to create friendships with the students he instructs. The veteran professor engages students with diverse and interesting teaching strategies that put emphasis on student opinion that helps them retain the information that he has taught. According to his former students, Greer demonstrates genuine care for student success for each pupil he teaches.”Greer is survived by his wife, Anita Louise Greer, two daughters, two stepchildren, five grandchildren and one brother.Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.A private service will be conducted on Monday, August 2, in Paris.(Story and photo from Dan Conti, Morehead State Public Radio/Kentucky Public Radio)

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
